The challenge
The #EndSARS movement was large, decentralised and widely misrepresented. There was no reliable, first-hand data on who the protesters were, what they had experienced, or what they wanted the government to do.
The solution
Bottled water distributed at protest grounds carried a Chekkit code. Protesters who dialled in answered a short survey — about their occupation, their experience of police harassment and brutality, which units they held most responsible, and the reforms they wanted — on any phone, without an app.

The results
The survey ran for a single day and achieved over 80% engagement. Chekkit published the findings as a series of insight reports covering what protesters wanted the government to do, which police units were most often accused of harassment, who the protesters actually were by occupation, and how widespread police brutality was among respondents.
